Iwatsu SS-7810 100MHz Analog Oscilloscope

One great scope for serious hobbyists on a budget

This scope is part of my early Christmas and Birthday Present to my self, along with my Cherry Mobile Magnum. :D I purchased this used scope at e-gizmo. This is now my second scope at home, complementing my HP 54503A Digital Oscilloscope.

Iwatsu SS-7810 is a 3-Channel Analog Oscilloscope with a bandwidth of 100MHz. It should be noted though that Channel 3 only has three sensitivity settings (50mV/div, 100mV/div, and 500mV/div). Controls on the Iwatsu SS-7810 are great, they are actually digital knobs, not the usual potentiometer knobs we find in older analog scopes. This setup can easily accommodate hobbyists who are only accustomed to modern digital scopes, and to Autoset lovers (fortunately, I am not one) there's an Autoset on this scope.

Another great feature of the Iwatsu SS-7810 is its CRT display. Signal traces are very fine focused and bright. Of all the analog scopes I've used, I'd say this one has the finest signal trace (it may not be apparent in the pictures, but it's very fine in person). Also, unlike the cheaper analog scopes around, Iwatsu SS-7810 has digital readouts on its CRT display, so there's no wasting time in counting graticules on the grid. A frequency counter is also included in the readout.

For serious hobbyists, this is one great buy and investment, perhaps even better than buying a new phone or tablet. :D
